College students in Associate, Undergraduate, and Graduate Degree Programs studying the following are encouraged to apply: IT Broadband Technology IT Business Analysis IT Cybersecurity IT Data Analysis/Science IT Project Management IT Software and Application Development IT Telecommunications Support Film/TV Production Interns will gain on-the-job experience under the guidance of experienced professional engineers, technologists, and public safety specialists while participating in various activities in the assigned DT discipline. The duration of this internship is 12 weeks, with an opportunity to extend it based on exemplary performance, department need, and available funding. Selected candidates will be placed as Student Design Trainee I (Job code 5380). The compensation is $35.40 per hour. The DT Summer 2025 Intern Cohort will start on June 17, 2025. Intern positions may be available in the following Divisions: Cloud Center of Excellence: Created in 2023, the Cloud Center of Excellence supports the creation and maintenance of Cloud solutions across the City. Office of Cybersecurity: Guides policy for agencies and departments citywide and actively monitors potential cyber-attacks. Geographical Information Systems: Manages and maintains San Francisco's address database, supporting various city services. IT Project Management: Coordinates engineers and analysts to ensure timely and budget-friendly service delivery. Infrastructure & Operations: Works to improve technology performance and resiliency across the government. Premier Support Services: Provides high-level support and technical expertise for internal business partners. Service Desk: Offers general IT support and 24/7 network support. SFGovTV: The City's TV channel producing original programming and covering city meetings. How to qualify Required Minimum Qualifications: Education: At the time you submit your application, you must be enrolled in an accredited university or community college in a Technology, Film/TV Production or related field. You must be returning to your undergraduate program or entering/returning to a graduate program in Fall 2025. You may still apply if you are in your second-to-last or last semester or quarter, and you may still be selected for the program within six months of graduation. Experience: No previous experience is necessary. Desired Qualifications: We are looking for students who are willing to learn IT engineering practices and skills relevant to their assigned DT division. Highly organized and detail-oriented. Motivated learners who are team-oriented but can work independently. Open to feedback and able to conduct themselves professionally. Willing to assist staff in preparation of plans and compiling technical data. Can effectively interact with co-workers and the public. Think critically and continuously recommend improvements.
