Air Freight Coordinator - Louisville, KY

Full-Time | On-site | Permanent


$55,000 - $70,000 per year


We are working with a well-established logistics / freight-forwarding organisation seeking an Air Freight Coordinator to join its team in Louisville, Kentucky . This is a hands-on role responsible for coordinating air import/export operations, managing carrier relationships, and ensuring documentation and shipments run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage air freight shipments (imports & exports), including booking, documentation, and scheduling.
• Liaise with airlines, freight forwarders, ground handlers, and customs brokers to arrange smooth operations.
• Prepare and review air waybills (AWBs), commercial invoices, packing lists, and other shipping documents.
• Track shipments, monitor transit status, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
• Resolve operational issues (delays, misroutes, damaged cargo) and escalate when needed.
• Maintain compliance with IATA and other relevant regulatory requirements.
• Work closely with procurement/sales/inventory teams to align freight plans with business needs.
• Assist in cost control, rate negotiation, and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• 2-4 years of experience in air freight coordination, forwarding, or a similar logistics role.
• Strong understanding of air freight operations, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in freight / logistics software and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or equivalent preferred (but not essential).
