Job Description

The Analyst, Technology Portfolio Operations at CarMax is the primary person responsible for putting together the materials for operational meetings, leading the analysis of portfolio data for reporting and auditing, communicating results to the department, and assisting teams and projects in understanding compliance issues. In this role, they will partner with Technology Managers and Delivery Managers to help plan for the necessary resources required to support all of the key projects in Technology which may include changing project timelines, adjusting priority of other projects, or requesting additional resources. Essential responsibilities include facilitating planning, analysis, execution and communication around Technology Portfolio Operations ceremonies (e.g. Tech Project Sizing, Planning & Prioritization, Portfolio Review), identifying and planning for resources needed to support all projects in Technology, driving consistency in tracking and reporting of project data across the Technology organization, supporting and maintaining operational standards, practices, tools, templates, and governance for the Technology organization, auditing the delivery management community to validate they are following standards for project tracking, assisting individuals who are out of compliance in understanding the changes needed to meet the standards, creating and maintaining group-wide communications related to Technology portfolio operations, seeking to improve process execution and making aligned recommendations, and identifying the need for and developing job aids to assist people in following project and portfolio processes. The purpose of the role is to execute operational tasks for the Technology portfolio, maintain process compliance across projects and teams, and provide ad hoc reporting and support to the Portfolio Manager. This role is the primary point of contact to the department for questions or help. Minimum requirements include 3+ years of experience as a business analyst or similar role, a Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Informatics, or equivalent experience, strong decision making, organizational skills, ability to gain buy-in from others, ownership of self-development, embracing change, strong active listening skills, clear communication and collaboration skills, ability to seek 'win-win' solutions, and ability to build and maintain strong relationships. Work authorization requires applicants to be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis with no sponsorship considered. The role is based in Richmond, VA Technology Innovation Center or Dallas, TX Technology Hub with a hybrid work arrangement.
