Job Title: Bar Manager

Reports To: General Manager

Status: Full-Time, Salaried

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Bar Manager to lead and manage our bar operations at an upscale, high-volume restaurant. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in bartending, staff management, and providing exceptional customer service while maintaining the highest standards of quality and professionalism. As a Bar Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bar, including managing a team, curating an exceptional cocktail menu, ensuring inventory control, and fostering a memorable experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate bar staff to provide outstanding service while maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Guest Experience: Ensure an elevated, personalized guest experience by maintaining high standards of service, attentiveness, and professional interaction.
  • Menu Development: Curate and manage an innovative, seasonal cocktail menu while staying ahead of industry trends and ensuring the drink offerings align with the restaurant's brand and concept.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee bar inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining proper stock levels while minimizing waste. Manage cost control to maximize profitability.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations, as well as alcohol service laws. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage bar budgets, track financial performance, and ensure profitability through responsible cost management, pricing, and maximizing sales.
  • Event Coordination: Assist in the planning and execution of private events, special occasions, and large group bookings, ensuring seamless beverage service.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the culinary team, restaurant management, and other departments to ensure a cohesive and exceptional dining experience.
  • Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any guest complaints, staff conflicts, or operational issues promptly and professionally.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bar Manager or in a leadership role in a high-end restaurant, hotel, or hospitality venue.
  • Extensive knowledge of cocktails, wine, spirits, and beverage trends.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead and inspire a team.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on building relationships and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of bar inventory and cost control.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and restaurant management software.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, with a valid alcohol service permit (where applicable).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Mixology or other relevant hospitality courses.
  • Previous experience in an upscale or fine-dining restaurant setting.
  • Ability to develop and implement staff training programs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. as needed for inventory or bar stock.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
