Position Summary

As a vital member of our team, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care. Your role will involve maintaining a safe and efficient treatment environment and ensuring effective communication with the treatment team to deliver top-notch care to our patients.

Primary Duties

Direct Patient Care

• Carry out all aspects of patient care as directed by the Charge Nurse.
• Observe and communicate any specialized service needs to the Charge Nurse/RN.
• Monitor patients and the treatment environment to ensure active participation.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and report any changes in condition or behavior.
• Intervene appropriately during behavioral crises using approved interventions.
• Provide emergency medical care when necessary.
• Assist patients with daily living activities, including meals, grooming, and toileting.
• Collaborate with the treatment team to implement individualized care plans.
• Facilitate educational and activity groups as assigned.
• Ensure compliance with infection control protocols.

Shift Support

• Review assignment sheets and communication tools each shift.
• Maintain a therapeutic and safe environment for all.
• Stay on duty until the next shift arrives and receives a verbal report.
• Document and store patient valuables according to policy.
• Ensure patients are discharged with all personal belongings and necessary information.
• Conduct environmental and safety rounds, reporting any issues to the Charge Nurse/RN.
• Comply with National Patient Safety Goals and provide immediate feedback on non-compliance.

Customer Interaction

• Engage with patients, families, and staff in a professional and respectful manner.
• Collaborate with the treatment team to foster a supportive care environment.
• Actively preserve patient and family dignity and safety.

Documentation

• Ensure timely, legible, and thorough documentation for medical records.
• Document patient observations, education, and incident reports as required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: One year of acute inpatient psychiatric care experience preferred.
• Certification/License: CPI/CPR Certified as per policy.
