Billing Coordinator - Medical Practice & Cosmetic Surgery Center
Location - Fully Remote
Pay - $25-31/hour (Depending on Experience)
Full-Time | Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM MST (Some Flexibility Available)

Are you a detail-driven medical billing professional ready to take ownership of a dynamic and rewarding role? We're seeking a Billing Coordinator to oversee and manage the full revenue cycle process within a busy, reputable medical practice and outpatient cosmetic surgery center, home to two board-certified plastic surgeons.

In this role, you'll play a critical part in maintaining accurate billing, managing insurance claims and follow-ups, securing pre-authorizations, and supporting the financial operations that keep our clinic and surgery center running smoothly. What You'll Do:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on insurance benefits and eligibility for incoming patients.
  • Secure pre-authorizations for surgical procedures and verify insurance coverage and documentation.
  • Accurately calculate patient financial responsibility for surgeries and procedures.
  • Submit and follow up on insurance claims for clinic and surgery center services.
  • Proactively manage accounts receivable-contacting patients and insurance companies regarding outstanding balances via phone, email, or mail.
  • Review and enter daily charges; double-check superbills for accuracy.
  • Track, complete, and submit appeals and reconsiderations.
  • Respond to patient billing inquiries and serve as a resource for staff billing-related questions.
  • Generate production and financial reports; support month-end reporting.
  • Process patient refunds and ensure accurate end-of-month billing and scheduled-not-billed reports.
  • Maintain current knowledge of medical billing and coding guidelines, and assist with updating policies and procedures.
  • Support payer contracting initiatives alongside the Administrator.

What You Bring:

Education & Certifications:

  • High school diploma required; bachelor's degree or billing/coding certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of billing and coding experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
  • Experience in plastic surgery or outpatient surgery center billing is required. Must be knowledgeable regarding breast reconstruction billing and coding.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Proficiency with medical billing software (Nextech experience is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10 , and medical terminology .
  • Familiarity with Medicare and third-party payer reimbursement rules.
  • Solid grasp of insurance verification, pre-authorization workflows, and electronic billing processes.
