Job Summary:

Telecommunications Attendants serve as the primary contact for calls across the Client’s University, Medical Center, Children’s Hospital, and SLAC. They manage high volumes of incoming calls, provide directory assistance, connect callers, establish conference calls, and operate paging systems. A critical responsibility is handling emergency communications, including dispatching medical response teams and supporting off-hours operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer, process, and direct calls; provide directory and system support.
  • Page doctors/staff, announce medical pages, and assist with doctor-patient communications.
  • Dispatch emergency teams for medical alerts (e.g., cardiac arrest, trauma, fire, chemical spills).
  • Support off-hours operations for Client entities.
  • Maintain directories, databases, reports, and system diagnostics.
  • Mentor and train co-workers; contribute to process improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and operational procedures.

Requirements:

  • Customer service experience with high call volume, preferably in medical/university settings.
  • Strong communication, telephone etiquette, and English proficiency.
  • Ability to interact professionally with staff at all levels.
  • Skilled in tact, diplomacy, and working under pressure.
  • Proficiency in telecommunications systems, paging systems, MAC/DOS, and typing (40–50 WPM).
  • Team-oriented with knowledge of Client operations, dispatch procedures, and medical terminology.
