Foreclosure Paralegal - TEMPORARY, POSSIBLE TEMP TO HIRE OPPORTUNITY

Responsibilities

• Provide paralegal support
• Intake- initial interviews and in-depth screening of applicants for eligibility and services
• Follow-up investigations for eligible clients.
• Perform administrative and general clerical duties, including front desk coverage, as needed.
• Communicate legal advice and assistance to clients under the supervision of an attorney.
• Provide technical and research assistance and other such support to attorneys.
• Assist with preparation of rental arrears applications, including compiling necessary documentation for services.
• Maintain both physical and electronic files in case management system for clients and applicants for services, and in compliance with funder requirements.
• Provide referrals of eligible and ineligible clients to other organizations for assistance.
• Close files, which includes organizing and uploading appropriate documents to the case management system.
• Perform translation and interpretation, if bilingual.
• Participate in outreach programs.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management

Qualifications

• Paralegal Certificate would be a plus
• Bilingual Spanish BIG PLUS
• Minimum of one (1) year of Legal experience
• Knowledge of e-filing: NYSCEF/PACER
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; able to effectively communicate with all levels of staff.
• Ability to handle privileged, confidential and sensitive information in an appropriate and professional manner.
• Excellent organizational skills, record keeping, attention to detail, and time management skills
• Proactive, organized, and have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Superior customer service and interpersonal skills.
