Job Description

Our client, the pharmaceutical manufacturing and laboratory industry, is seeking a Chief Engineer to join their team. As a Chief Engineer, you will be part of the Facilities Management Department supporting pharmaceutical operations and compliance teams. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Chief Engineer

Location: Milpitas, California

Pay Range: $45/hr- $60/hr (negotiable, higher rates possible based on experience)

Shift: 1st Shift M-F:

  • Regular overtime as operational needs require
  • Mandatory 24/7 on-call rotation: approximately one week per month
  • Must be available for emergency response within 30 minutes during on-call periods

What's the Job?

  • Lead all facilities operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance within a pharmaceutical environment.
  • Perform hands-on technical work on critical systems including HVAC, electrical, and specialized pharmaceutical equipment.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure facility reliability and compliance.
  • Coordinate with operations teams to schedule maintenance activities that minimize production impact.
  • Support validation activities, change control procedures, and regulatory inspections to maintain GMP standards.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of facilities management experience, with at least 5 years in pharmaceutical or FDA-regulated environments.
  • HVAC certification such as NATE or equivalent, and electrical licensing or certification.
  • Experience with validated systems, GMP, GLP, and GCP regulations.
  • Proven leadership skills managing multidisciplinary teams and vendor relationships.
