The Director of Music is responsible for supporting and developing the musical activities and programs of the church, with primary responsibility for the music for worship services.
Tasks:
1. Meets with the Pastor regularly to coordinate and develop the musical portions of the worship service.
2. Directs and accompanies special music .
3. Is the primary developer and director of instrumental/vocal ensembles as needed and as resources are available.
4. Supervises the organization and maintenance of the music library and supplies.
5. Takes the lead on recommending the annual music budget, in conjunction with Worship Commission.
6. Provides articles for newsletters, bulletins or other publicity as needed. Provides an annual report to be included in the compilation for the annual congregational meeting.
7. Is Staff liaison for Worship Committee, attending commission meetings and serving as a resource for planning, along with the Pastor.
8. Coordinates with the organist for weddings, funerals, and special church functions as requested. Has the right of first refusal for weddings and funerals, which are compensated separately from salary. If not available, assists in finding an accompanist.
