COST ACCOUNTANT
MONTGOMERY, AL
Do you have 3–10 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in architecture, engineering, or construction industries?

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Cost Accountant to join their team and support the financial health of our projects.

Position Summary: The Cost Accountant will play a key role in managing the financial aspects of our projects from start to finish. This includes initiating new project assignment forms, issuing and tracking client agreements, setting up billing schedules, preparing customer invoices, processing consultant, engineering, and/or vendor proposals and invoices, and ensuring accurate job cost tracking. The ideal candidate will have experience in the A/E (Architecture/Engineering) or GC (General Contractor) industry or a closely related field.

Qualifications:

• 3–10 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in architecture, engineering, or construction industries.
• Familiarity with job cost accounting and project billing processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Experience with Sage 50 , QuickBooks , or Deltek is highly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus but not required. Industry experience is most critical.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and maintain client billing schedules in coordination with project managers.
• Draft and submit invoices to clients in a timely and accurate manner.
• Receive, review, and record consultant, engineering, and vendor proposals and invoices to appropriate jobs.
• Track project costs and ensure alignment with budgets.
• Process payments upon receipt from clients and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure financial data integrity across projects.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes as needed
