Overview Director of Business Development - Air Force (USAF) role at Tria Federal (Tria) . Responsibilities Define and execute the USAF business development strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives. Convert strategic plans into tactical plans; lead the analysis of USAF market trends, budgets, and competitive positioning to identify high-value pursuits. Translate capabilities and domain expertise into targeted market positioning and differentiated value propositions. Provide guidance on strategy-to-action plans, assist in achieving milestones, and drive growth. Act as a customer advocate by identifying mission needs and representing the customer perspective. Establish and sustain senior-level relationships with government customers, primes, and subcontractors. Represent the company at industry forums, conferences, and associations to expand brand visibility. Create and prosecute a pipeline that supports financial goals for the Tria business unit. Guide customer call plans to shape procurements and position the company as a trusted partner. Oversee the opportunity pipeline in CRM tools, ensuring accuracy and alignment with growth strategy. Drive qualification reviews and go/no-go decisions based on fit, competitiveness, and ROI. Ensure measurable progress across pursuits with emphasis on win probability (PWin). Contribute to capture strategy development, including win themes, competitive assessments, solution development, and teaming strategies. Direct teaming negotiations and build partnerships that strengthen the company’s offerings. Oversee development of customer-facing materials such as white papers, capability briefings, and executive presentations. Partner with proposal, pricing, and technical teams to ensure compliance, competitiveness, and compelling value delivery. Provide executive reviews and approvals of key proposals, ensuring alignment with strategy and customer needs. Drive pre-RFP positioning and shape customer requirements to enhance competitiveness. Foster collaboration across capture, proposal, technical, and delivery teams to achieve shared growth objectives. Mentor and develop junior BD and capture staff, building organizational depth and succession readiness. Provide regular executive-level reporting on pipeline health, pursuit status, and BD metrics. Basic Requirements Demonstrable track record of winning pursuits with the U.S. Air Force. 10+ years of progressive federal BD, capture, or related experience with a track record of large contract wins. Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the Air Force commands and communities. Deep knowledge of federal procurement practices (FAR/DFAR) and major contracting vehicles (e.g., GWACs, IDIQs, GSA Schedules). Established network of senior federal decision-makers and industry partners. Ability to quickly build new relationships and leverage existing networks to advance a pipeline. Proven hands-on leader willing to own all aspects of the BD lifecycle. Experience collaborating with external organizations. Poised, highly articulate with executive presence. Ability to influence change at multiple organizational levels. Proficiency in USASpending, Acquisition.gov, GovWin, SAM.gov, Salesforce (or similar CRM), and federal market research tools. Additional Qualifications Experience building relationships that increase market penetration and opportunities with new and existing clients. Ability to collaborate with supporting functions and other delivery organizations for win/win results. Experience breaking into new accounts through effective capture tactics.
