Job Summary

We’re hiring a part-time Pet Care Technician who’s excited to grow. This role is perfect for someone transitioning from another field — especially with management or client service experience — and ready to build a long-term career in pet care.

You’ll start at the entry level with hands-on dog walking and pet sitting responsibilities, and you’ll work your way up through our structured certification ladder. You’ll learn the ropes, earn credentials, and have the opportunity to grow into leadership roles within our company.

Location: Metro Detroit (Birmingham, Troy, Bloomfield Hills, Franklin, West Bloomfield, and surrounding areas)
Schedule: Part-time to Full-Time, primarily Monday–Friday from 9am–4pm, with some evenings and weekends 

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide structured, safety-focused dog walks and in-home pet care

• Follow detailed care instructions and document each visit using Time to Pet

• Communicate clearly with clients and teammates using Slack and mobile tools

• Take and upload visit photos with clear, kind service reports

• Use judgment and care when noticing behavioral or health changes in pets

• Uphold all policies and procedures — safety, scheduling, communication, and care standards

• Learn and grow through certification tracks in behavior, enrichment, and leadership

• Be open to split shifts or occasional evenings as you progress into more advanced roles

Qualifications and Skills

Required:

• Prior professional experience (ideally in management or customer service)

• Strong work ethic, self-starter mentality, and a growth mindset

• Comfort with technology (Slack, mobile apps, time tracking, AI-based tools)

• Excellent communication and time management skills

• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a smartphone

• Availability Monday–Friday from 9am–4pm with optional weekend shifts

• Physically able to walk dogs and manage active visits outdoors

Preferred:

• Previous pet care, pet store, or rescue experience

• Interest in professional development and leadership

• Willingness to pursue certifications in pet care, first aid, and behavior
