E&I Commissioning Coordinator

Our client is an energy provider that is constructing a Wind Turbine Installation Vessel.

Location: Brownsville, Texas

Start Date: ASAP (mid-June)

Schedule: 6/10 schedule

Per diem: GSA rate per calendar day

Duration: June - August 1st

Job Description

The E&I Commissioning Coordinator reports will report directly to the Construction Manager. Responsibilities include the field construction and inspection support for all electrical and instrumentation cabling and equipment being installed on the vessel. All reports and coordination will be done through the Construction Manager. The position responsibilities outlined below may be adjusted at the discretion of the Site Manager and Construction Manager.

Job Duties

  • Provide field support to the E&I Superintendent with regards to all electrical systems and associated equipment relating to the construction of vessel.
  • Act as focal point for inspections from the shipyard regarding all electrical & instrumentation systems and associated equipment.
  • Provide support in resolving technical issues with electrical & instrumentation systems.
  • Assist the Construction Manager and E&I Superintendent with the review of safety reports from the shipyard and ensure that appropriate action is taken to ensure the safety of all personnel.
  • Ensure that all contract specification requirements regarding quality, safety and environment are followed.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to the Construction Manager, in relation to the planning and execution of all construction schedules.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to the Construction Manager, in relation to the planning and execution of all vessel modifications.
  • Assist with E&I inspections performed by ABS and USCG for vessel certifications.
  • Provide support on behalf of owner to the yard and their subcontractors during all construction and commissioning activities including monitoring of project plans to assist with the timely delivery of the vessel
  • Provide advice and recommendations to ensure the continuing development of construction and operations philosophies, strategies, and procedures.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to the Construction Manager to ensure that the vessel is correctly surveyed, documented, approved, and constructed to ABS and USCG rules and regulations. Verify that any modifications activities carried out do not violate ABS or USCG rules and regulations.
  • Maintain and report any activities or process improvements as part of the vessel construction continuous improvement program.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of vessel and marine electrical systems.
  • Good multidisciplinary technical knowledge.
  • Familiar with industry installations considering, HV/LV switchboard, power generation, automation, and instrumentation, rotating electrical machinery, navigation systems and communication equipment
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, documents & management reports. 5. Good communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of marine navigation, electrical, instrumentation, propulsion, and auxiliary systems.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years sailing experience and/or shipyard construction experience, at least two of which in supervision of construction or inspection services.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
