Job Description

An elementary classroom environment seeks a skilled educator specializing in both special education and English as a Second Language (ESL) to support diverse learners in Lebanon, OH. This contract opportunity spans the upcoming school year and focuses on fostering academic growth among English learners through targeted language instruction and inclusive teaching strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field
  • Ohio Department of Education (ODE) teaching license with an ESL Endorsement
  • Solid understanding of second language acquisition theories, ESL instructional methodologies, and multicultural education
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying levels of English proficiency
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and educational staff
  • Dedication to promoting equity and inclusion within the learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement ESL lessons in alignment with Ohios English Language Proficiency Standards
  • Provide push-in, pull-out, and co-teaching services to support English learners across different subject areas
  • Design individualized language plans based on comprehensive assessment of students English proficiency
  • Monitor student progress utilizing assessments such as the Ohio English Language Proficiency Assessment (OELPA)
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers to adapt content and instruction to meet the needs of English learners
  • Maintain compliance with ODE requirements related to ESL programming, including accurate record-keeping and communication with parents
  • Advocate for culturally responsive practices and support the academic and social needs of English learners
