Job Description

Job Title: Environmental Support Specialist REPORTS TO: Regional EHS Director Provide safe, quality, timely and professional subject matter expertise in support of Clients Environmental compliance programs and management systems. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Environmental Management Processes: Assist Client with procedures at all locations Deep understanding of site-specific requirements, processes, and procedures Knowledge of AHJ requirements specific to each locale Implement kaizen based on Compliance Monitoring and Audits Environmental Audits and Assessments: Ensure regular environmental audits to identify potential compliance issues and areas for improvement, including in: Hazardous Waste Universal Waste Electronic Waste Various Non-Hazardous Waste Streams (refrigerants, oils, coolants, etc) Fuel Dispensing Operations Above Ground Storage Tanks Underground Storage Tanks Electronic Monitoring System: work with a team to develop robust electronic monitoring processes, including: Data Collection (Microsoft Forms) Confirm Daily compliance Training and Development: partner with Team members to ensure everyone knows and is comfortable with their roles Data Analysis: development of a system to: Provide real-time monitoring and analysis Analyzing trends Creating efficiencies and documented process improvement plans Reporting and communication: Preparing detailed reports on environmental findings Regular summary reports to stake-holders Report acute issues using standardized reporting process Emergency Management: ensure preparedness for unexpected impacts Facilitate training to Team Members on expectations AHJ Interaction: Support planned and unplanned visits by AHJ Project management: Overseeing environmental projects, including budget management, timeline adherence, and coordinating with team members Waste Management Oversight: Overseeing waste disposal procedures, including hazardous waste management, recycling programs, and waste minimization strategies. Sustainability Initiatives: Developing and implementing sustainable practices within the company, such as energy efficiency projects, waste reduction programs, and green procurement strategies Water and Air Quality Control: Monitoring and managing water and air emissions to ensure compliance with regulations and minimize environmental impact Chemical Management: Implementing procedures for the safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Education and/or Experience): Bachelor's degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, or a related field Conceptual, analytical, and problem solving skills to enable the identification of issues and making sound decisions to determine appropriate courses of action for achieving long-range organizational goals. Occupational Health & Safety Certification (ASP, CSP or CIH) preferred; Experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial environment required Strong understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and scientific research techniques Fieldwork experience including sample collection and monitoring techniques Technical knowledge of environmental monitoring and assessment methods Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders Leadership and project management abilities to oversee environmental initiatives Ability to work independently and as part of a team WORKING CONDITIONS and/or PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: •Travel up to 25%, mainly M-F, but could involve exception weekend stays •Ability to climb ladders to access elevated areas •Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight Compensation: $95-105K Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
