Fiber Splicer – Raleigh/Durham Area
Location: Durham, NC (Must live within a 1-hour commute)
Job Type: Full-time, Direct Hire
Schedule: 40 hours per week with rotating on-call shifts (including some weekends)
Pay: Based on experience
About the Role
We are seeking a Fiber Splicer to join our team and support the growth of our telecommunications network. In this role, you will be responsible for splicing optical fibers to ensure seamless data transmission and strong, reliable connections. Your expertise will help maintain and expand our network infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Perform fiber optic cable splicing, both aerial and underground, with guidance.
Test, activate, and troubleshoot network circuits after installation.
Ensure all splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
Work safely at various heights, including underground and aerial locations.
Conduct basic vehicle maintenance, such as fluid checks.
Accurately document work performed, including marking maps and tracking material usage.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old.
Authorized to work in the United States.
High School Diploma, GED, or relevant work experience.
Valid, non-provisional state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to pass a DOT physical exam and obtain a valid medical card.
Minimum of 6 months of fiber splicing experience or 1 year of experience in the telecommunications industry.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of telecommunications network structure.
Willingness to work on-call and respond to after-hours call-outs as needed.
