We have an opportunity for a Hearing Officer in Riverside County. We are seeking motivated, fair and detail-oriented individual(s) who will perform quasi-judicial and judicial functions for the Riverside Superior Court.
The ideal candidate will meet at least one of the following criteria:
(A) active member in good standing with the California State Bar for at least 10 years continuously prior to appointment;
(B) was a judge of a court of record in California within the last five years, or is currently eligible for the Assigned Judges' Program; or
(C) was a commissioner, magistrate, referee, or hearing officer authorized to perform the duties of a subordinate judicial officer of a court of record in California within the last five years.

Selection Procedures:
Step I: All applications will be reviewed to identify candidates who meet the minimum qualifications; those candidates deemed most qualified may be referred to step II in the selection process.
Step II: Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications may be reviewed by the Selection Committee. Successful candidates may be invited to participate in the examination process.
Step III: Those candidates that are successful in the previous step may be invited to an oral interview. Those candidates who are successful in the interview (weighted 100%) may be placed on the eligible hiring list. Placement on the eligible hiring list is not a guarantee of employment.

MEDICAL FLEXIBLE BENEFIT PROGRAM
The Court contributes an amount each month, which is determined by the type of enrollment as specified in the benefit guide, on behalf of each regular employee in a paid status, who is enrolled in one of the medical plans provided by the Superior Court of California, County of Riverside. No cash back will be given if the cost of the current group health plan coverage is less than the Flexible Benefit dollar amount given by the Court.
MEDICAL/DENTAL/VISION INSURANCE: A choice of different medical, dental, and a vision plan are available to elect.
Employees may waive the Court-offered Medical Plan if they provide proof of a current group health plan coverage. Upon receipt of proof of coverage of a current group health plan, the Court may contribute a Flex Waiver credit. Enrolling in a California Market Place medical plan is not considered group coverage and does not qualify for the Flex Waiver credit.
The Flex Waiver credit will be reduced on a pro-rated basis for an employee who works less than full time.
Employees who do not elect a medical insurance plan or provide proof of current group health plan coverage will automatically be enrolled in the lowest cost plan for employee only.
LEAVE PROGRAM
ANNUAL - Employees shall accrue annual leave in accordance to terms of the
Court's Personnel Provisions. Annual leave may be used due to an absence from work for personal reasons or illness.
Leave shall be earned/accrued on a pro-rated basis for an employee working less than full time or as specified in the Personnel Provisions; leave hours shall not be earned/accrued while an employee is in an unpaid status.
DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN
The Court contributes $50 per pay period to a 401A plan administered by Nationwide. Employees may also elect to enroll in the Court's 457(b) plan administered by Nationwide.
LIFE INSURANCE
The Court pays for a basic term life insurance policy for each employee and a basic Spouse/Dependent Life Insurance policy. Additional coverage may be purchased.
SHORT TERM DISABILITY
Employees participate and pay into the California Short Term Disability Program
RETIREMENT
This summary is for general information purposes only. The Public Employees' Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA) will determine retirement tier eligibility. Final compensation limits for classic and new PEPRA members are defined annually in the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), Section 401(a)(17).
Tier I: Formula is 3% @ 60. Employee contribution is 8%. Final compensation is the average annual compensation earnable for a 12-consecutive-month period of employment.
Tier II: Formula is 2% @ 60. Employee contribution is 7%. Final compensation is the average annual compensation earnable for a 36-consecutive-month period of employment.
Tier III: Formula is 2% @ 62. Employee contribution is 7.25%. Final compensation is the average annual pensionable compensation for a 36-consecutive-month period of employment.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP)
EAP is a benefit provided by Superior Court of California, County of Riverside for all employees.
HOLIDAYS
Generally fourteen paid holidays per year. Holiday pay shall be reduced on a pro-rated basis for an employee working less than full time.
