Job Description

Salary: $71,000 - 92,000 per year Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years of experience with typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals
  • Three years of IT work experience in a user support role
  • In-depth knowledge of commercially available operating systems and applications used by the agency
  • Familiarity with help desk applications for change/problem management
  • Understanding of computer systems and peripheral devices for system monitoring
  • Knowledge of user password security principles and practices
  • Basic understanding of database principles
  • Knowledge of network domains and login procedures
  • Awareness of web browser functionalities and differences between intranets and the Internet
  • General knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., Pascal, COBOL, Natural, Fortran, BASIC, HTML)
  • Familiarity with network troubleshooting techniques
  • Ability to create and utilize disk images
  • Competence in developing system documentation and ensuring its completeness and accuracy
  • Capability to assist in monitoring program tests and reviewing computer output for errors
  • Skill in restoring data from backup media
  • Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures related to help desk support
  • Understanding of the agencys change/problem management plan
  • Experience with hardware and software specific to the agency
  • Talent for training and leading assigned personnel
  • Ability to oversee operations in the absence of a supervisor
Responsibilities:
  • Provide user support for computer systems and applications
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to computer hardware and software
  • Configure help desk applications for effective problem management
  • Monitor computer systems and peripheral devices to ensure optimal functioning
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of system documentation for clarity and completeness
  • Conduct tests on programs, monitoring outcomes, and identifying issues
  • Facilitate data recovery from backup sources as necessary
  • Train and mentor junior team members in best practices
  • Lead operations effectively in the absence of a supervisor
  • Stay updated on departmental policies and procedures regarding help desk support
