The Generator Field Service Technician is responsible for providing on-site and phone troubleshooting, repair, equipment modifications, installation, and sales support of Generac industrial products. This position will require up to 50% travel; fleet vehicle provided. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, and connection diagrams; understanding components and operation of an electrical distribution system; excellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision; experience in Electronics, Electromechanical Technology; knowledge of power generation; light tower, pumps, and heating products; and Spark Ignited knowledge. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma; 4-6 years servicing and troubleshooting Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS) with particular mastery of paralleling switchgear and generator repair/maintenance, and loadbanking setup and reporting abilities; Generac Industrial certification. Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree in Marine, Ag, Construction, Automotive technical programs, or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; 8 years servicing and troubleshooting Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS). Physical Demands include regular talking and hearing; use of hands to manipulate tools, hardware, parts, instrumentation, or controls; reaching with hands and arms; standing, walking, and driving commercially-plated vans or pickup trucks; sitting for up to 12 hours a day; lifting or carrying parts in excess of 80 lbs regularly; fine dexterity for manipulating small objects; walking, squatting, turning/twisting, crouching, reaching, standing, balancing, climbing/descending ladders, stairs, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching or crawling; and specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposure to extreme weather conditions, noisy and confined environments. Daily road travel monitored by vehicle GPS. Random drug/other testing or data collection may be required.
