Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Seguin, TX or Peoria, IL

Details: 12-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire

Pay Range: $49.00 – 53.00/hr. with benefit inclusions

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our supply base team. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise and leadership in carrying out a robust quality plan within the supplier network. This role involves implementing a continuous quality improvement process and strict process controls to evaluate and develop new and existing suppliers worldwide. The goal is to maximize Quality, Cost, Logistics, Delivery, and Management (QCLDM) within the supply network and ensure suppliers meet corporate and business unit requirements for SQEP certification levels and customer requirements for quality, cost, and delivery of purchased material.

Responsibilities

  • Assess potential suppliers via on-site Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, Management (QCLDM) audits.
  • Drive the implementation of Lean, BIQ, & APQP processes.
  • Continuously review supplier capacity and assure production readiness through rigorous review of supplier PPAP submission.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure proper process control standards are in place and continuously monitor key manufacturing processes for improvement opportunities.
  • Provide technical support during start-up activities and ongoing strategic support.
  • Monitor suppliers’ adherence to PCN (Process Change Notification) on a timely and cost-effective basis.
  • Develop the supply base to fulfill the total requirements from the Production System implementation.

Years of Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in engineering.
  • Two to four years of job-related experience, additional experience in manufacturing roles is desirable
  • Quality Engineering certification is highly desirable.

Skills Required

  • Engineering or manufacturing background with familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce components and assemblies.
  • Knowledge of shop operations and maintenance procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of APQP and PPAP processes.
  • Proficiency in GD&T and process capability.
  • Ability to use and demonstrate statistical and problem-solving tools.
  • American Supply Quality (ASQ) quality certification.
  • Knowledge of 6 Sigma methodology, preferably with prior completion of Green Belt training and/or other 6 Sigma experience.
  • Excellent human relation and communication skills.
  • Potential for leadership to develop cooperative working relationships with others both inside and outside the organization.

Typical Day or Week in the Role

  • Typical task breakdown: Assessing potential suppliers, driving implementation of Lean, BIQ, & APQP, reviewing supplier capacity, ensuring production readiness, and providing technical support.
  • Interaction level with team: Weekly team meetings, email updates, and goal status updates.
  • Work environment: Staff work will be done in an office environment or remotely from home. During supplier visits, work will be split between office and manufacturing environments.
