Job Description

Are you passionate about ASL literature and storytelling? We're looking for a creative and dedicated ASL Storyteller and Deaf Literature Teacher to join our remote education team. In this role, you'll inspire deaf and hard of hearing students by introducing them to the rich tradition of ASL literature while enhancing their skills in both ASL and written English.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach ASL literature, including poetry, storytelling, and Deaf cultural narratives.
Develop and deliver engaging online lessons on various language arts topics.
Encourage students' creativity through ASL storytelling and composition assignments.
Introduce students to influential Deaf authors and their works.
Guide students in analyzing and comparing ASL and written English literature.
Support students in crafting their own ASL stories and performances.
Integrate Deaf culture and history into literature and language arts lessons.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Deaf Studies, ASL Literature, or a related field (Master's preferred).
Valid teaching license with endorsement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education.
Native or near-native fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
At least 3 years of experience teaching ASL literature or language arts to DHH students.
Proven expertise in ASL storytelling and performance.
Comfortable with online teaching platforms and video editing software.
Strong creative skills with a knack for inspiring students' artistic expression.
