Summary

Drives delivery vehicle with capacity of less than three (3) tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations.

Essential Functions
  • Verifies load against shipping papers.
  • Drives truck to destination applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in area.
  • Prepares receipts for loads picked up.
  • May collect payments for goods delivered and for delivery charges.
  • Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations.
  • May load and unload truck.
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, and oil.
  • May perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, and spark plugs.
  • Driving is an essential function of this position and a valid current driver's license must be maintained at all times. A CDL may be required based on truck being driven.
  • Answer basic customer questions regarding equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or tech school graduate preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of equipment operation to be able to answer basic customer questions.
  • CDL required
Computer Skills

Basic Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Must meet company requirements for insurance
  • CDL required
Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages and ability to perform these operations using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, depending on site location, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment. The employee may occasionally be exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in some work environments is occasionally loud.
