General Purpose

The Parts Manager leads the Parts Department personnel and maximizes ROI through parts sales, inventory control, and expense control. The Parts Manager reports to the Store Manager.

Essential Functions


  • Lead the Parts Department to achieve parts metrics and goals aligned with dealership financial and operational objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Aftermarket to make decisions in the departments best interest.
  • Work with the Store Manager to hire, lead, motivate, develop, and evaluate Parts Department personnel through development plans, evaluations, coaching, training, and developmental activities that increase performance.
  • Maximize use of all order discount programs to achieve stock order goals.
  • Monitor parts sales to assure achievement of budgeted sales and profit goals.
  • Help develop and implement a twelve?month continuous parts promotion and advertising program coordinated with Service and Sales promotions.
  • Submit all warranty and return claims within required time frames to receive maximum credits and use surplus return privileges to the maximum allowed.
  • Resolve customer complaints related to parts service, eliminate causes whenever possible, and review complaints and solutions with the Store Manager.
  • Control and maintain proper paperwork flow in the Parts Department to support audit processes and employee performance reviews.
  • Maintain an accurate and effective parts inventory control system, including perpetual and/or annual physical inventories and proper counter procedures.
  • Maintain department tools, equipment, and AVE?PLP vehicles in good working order.
  • Perform other duties as required to ensure the success of AVE?PLP.


Supervisory Duties
  • Directly manage Parts Sales Representatives per AVE?PLP policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, setting goals, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.



Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Consistently promote, support, work, and act in support of AVE?PLPs DNA.
  • Deliver high level of customer satisfaction to external and internal customers while retaining them.
  • Write and speak effectively to individuals and groups, building and leading teams.
  • Use standard desktop applications and internet functions.
  • Maintain attractive merchandising and self?selection displays.
  • Work extended hours and weekends as required.


Education

  • Associates degree required; Bachelors degree preferred.


Experience

  • Preferred: Two years of customer service experience.
  • Preferred: One year of management experience.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a parts sales role.
  • Equivalency: Combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year?for?year basis.


Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications

  • Reliable transportation.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Passing MVR, criminal history background checks, employment verification, and drug screen required before start of employment.
  • Forklift license preferred or ability to obtain one.


Working Environment

  • Travel to customer locations, meetings, warehouses, and other store locations regularly.
  • Occasional outdoor work in extreme weather, walking on uneven terrain, exposure to insects.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.
  • Moderate noise level.
  • Required PPE: cold weather gear, eye protection, gloves, and uniform.
  • Clean, safety?conscious working environment required.
  • Work may involve long hours, overtime during holidays, weekends, and evenings.
  • May require on?call responsibilities.


Physical Activities

  • Stand, sit, walk, walk on unpaved terrain, talk, reach with arms and hands, use manual dexterity, operate computer and telephone, handle or feel, hear alarms.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Move and position objects up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Close, distance, color vision required; ability to adjust focus.
