Job Summary:

This position is for a Phlebotomist responsible for collecting blood samples from patients using various techniques, including venipuncture and finger sticks. The role requires prioritizing collections based on order requests, adhering to aseptic techniques, and properly handling different types of blood collection tubes. The Phlebotomist must be proficient in patient positioning and working with patients of all ages.

Location:Rochester, New York, United States

Responsibilities:

- Collect blood samples via venipuncture, finger sticks, and ABG collection.
- Prioritize patient collections based on order request (stat, timed, routine).
- Utilize appropriate blood collection tubes, including gray top, green top, light blue top, purple top, and red top tubes.
- Ensure proper patient positioning during blood collection.
- Adhere to aseptic techniques to prevent contamination.
- Properly label and process collected samples.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Required Skills & Certifications:

- State-licensed as a Phlebotomist.
- Proficient in venipuncture and finger stick techniques.
- Experience with gray top (Fluoride, Potassium Oxalate), green top (Heparin, Ammonia), light blue top tubes (coagulation), purple top (EDTA), and red top tubes (plain).
- Knowledge of ABG collection.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Phlebotomist.

Special Considerations:

- Must be local to within 50 miles.
- Minimal RTO (request time off) is preferred.

Scheduling:
- Sunday - Thursday, 4:00 AM - 12:30 PM
- Days staffing ratio 1:8, Nights staffing ratio 1:3, Weekends staffing ratio 1:11
