Job Title: Reporter - KRMG Tulsa Radio

Position Overview

102.3 KRMG Tulsa’s News & Talk has an opening for – a News Reporter.

Do you love breaking news and severe weather coverage? The most award-winning N/T radio station in the state of Oklahoma has an opening. We are looking for someone who can anchor morning newscasts and StormCenter, as well as produce content for the morning and afternoon show. Are you a proactive individual who is constantly looking to expand your role in a company where the sky is the limit? Are you a techie? Then we have the perfect gig for you. We are looking for someone to claim five Monday-Friday day shifts as well as full benefits and 401k. Experience covering major news stories and severe weather coverage a plus.

Responsibilities include, conducting interviews, creating relationships with sources, reporting stories for on-air newscasts and StormCenter and KRMG.com.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Write news stories that are clear, accurate and unbiased
• Deliver news copy on air with a conversational and engaging delivery
• Read and understand complex material and turn it into easily understood copy under deadline pressure
• Report live coverage of breaking news and/or special coverage
• Conduct live and/or taped interviews
• Ability to develop and effectively pitch story ideas
• Be consistently up to date on local, national and international stories
• Experience with news software like Newsboss 
• Connect with listeners on social and digital platforms to promote the brand
• Write online stories for KRMG.com and app pushes for the KRMG app

Minimum Qualifications

• At least five years of reporting experience is required. An extensive on-air background as this is not a position for beginners.
• Strong writing and editorial skills
• Ability to narrate, ad-lib and add value to live breaking news and severe weather coverage
• An idea-generating journalist with a positive attitude and a standout work ethic
• Must be willing to work a schedule that includes holidays and non-traditional work hours

Preferred Qualifications

• B.A Degree in Journalism, Communications, or Other discipline preferred.
