Job Description

Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Assistant, Per Diem for the Department of Urology – Oncology at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

The primary role of the Research Assistant, Per Diem is to manage daily clinical and translational research study activities under the guidance of the Principal Investigator. The Research Assistant, Per Diem will also function as a contact for various internal and external stakeholders to facilitate and streamline activities in support of the Urological Oncology research study portfolio.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Perform database maintenance. Support PI in organizing prospective registries for all cancers of the genitourinary tract. Coordinate with biobank to summarize inventories of specimens for use in translational studies.
  • Assist in conducting protocol-specific data abstraction and data manipulation. Abstract cohort data from prospective registries for study-specific purposes.
  • Assist with research subject recruitment and enrollment, including identification, consenting, and enrollment of patients in clinical and translational research studies.
  • Under the guidance of the PI and other lab personnel, prepare regulatory documentation and submissions, primarily for institutional, multi-institutional, or collaborative industry translational projects.
  • Communicate with IRB / SRB and regulatory staff and investigators.
  • Support PI in organizing Investigator-initiated CINJ clinical studies, including management of a Urologic Oncology Umbrella IRB approval for retrospective studies.
  • Prepare weekly reports of status of urologic oncology regulatory updates and patient accrual, as well as ongoing abstracts, publications, and grants.
  • Pursues educational and training opportunities to ensure that all required skills and knowledge remain cutting edge

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree required. 
  • One (1) year of experience meeting deadlines and working in an office environment with attention to detail required. 
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS :  Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing.  No special vision requirements.  Lifting up to 25 lbs.
