Job Description

SEASONAL POSITION

At SeaWorld, we're passionate about caring for animals. In fact, we've already rescued over 40,000 animals (and counting!). And we can save you from being stuck in just another job. Join us and help bring joy, excitement, and lasting memories to people from around the world. We're seeking enthusiastic, dedicated, and hard-working individuals to become our Ambassadors. Join us and play an important part on our incredible team! Are you ready to lead the fear? Howl-O-Scream is not your average theme park event. It’s dark, loud, fast-paced, and filled with screams—and that’s just behind the scenes. We’re looking for strong, focused leaders who thrive in intense environments and are passionate about executing world-class immersive horror experiences. If you're an experienced stage or event manager who thrives under pressure, can guide performers through high-energy scare zones, and keep a cool head in chaotic moments, you may be exactly who we're looking for. What You Get to Do: As a Howl-O-Scream Event Coordinator, you'll be the driving force behind the daily operation, rehearsal process, and execution of this large-scale, immersive event. Your role includes:
  • Leading the operational and artistic execution of a designated Howl-O-Scream zone or attraction
  • Monitoring assigned scare zones and mazes to ensure design intent and safety standards are upheld
  • Supervising scare actors
  • Coordinating rehearsals, Scare Schools, and training sessions
  • Creating and maintaining show documentation including cue sheets, show bibles, and SOPs
  • Preparing and distributing nightly performance and rehearsal reports
  • Collaborating across departments to maintain artistic integrity, production schedules, and operational safety
  • Supporting onboarding of new performers
  • Maintaining high energy, professionalism, and guest focus during a fast-paced and high-intensity event
What It Takes to Succeed:
  • Previous event or stage management experience is required—especially in fast-paced, immersive, or intense environments
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Entertainment, Theater, or Management preferred)
  • The typical work week during event operation is Thursday through Sunday, with extended hours during rehearsals, install, and strike. Willing and able to work nighttime hours, weekends, and holidays as required by the event
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working in dark, outdoor environments with theatrical effects such as fog, strobe lights, loud soundscapes, and costumed characters
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of theatrical systems such as lighting, fog, and special effects
  • Ability to receive and implement feedback quickly and constructively
  • Valid state driver’s license preferred
What Else is Important:
  • This is a high-intensity seasonal position. While fun and rewarding, it requires emotional stamina, leadership under pressure, and the ability to maintain team morale during long and late hours.
  • Guest service and experience in immersive theater, haunted attractions, or large-scale events is a plus.
  • You must be able to maintain a professional demeanor while managing performers and ensuring safety, even in chaotic or unpredictable scenarios.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, including during rehearsals and active show times
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 20 pounds
  • Must be comfortable working in outdoor and low-light environments with varying weather conditions
  • Comfortable working in and around theatrical effects including fog, strobe lights, loud sounds, and themed elements
Join us for the screams, stay for the experience. If you’re ready to take the lead on one of San Diego’s most thrilling seasonal productions, we want to hear from you. Compensation: 20.00 USD Hourly The perks of the position: Ambassadors will enjoy a fun, fast-paced environment, and great teammates, as well as:
  • FREE park admission
  • Discounts on park admission tickets and passes for family and friends
  • Park discounts on food, merchandise, etc.
  • Scholarship opportunities
  • Exclusive employee events and giveaways
EEO Employer: SEAWORLD PARKS & ENTERTAINMENT IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER. ALL APPLICANTS WILL BE CONSIDERED WITHOUT REGARD TO AGE, RACE, COLOR, RELIGION, GENDER, NATIONAL ORIGIN, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, GENDER IDENTITY OR EXPRESSION, DISABILITY OR COVERED VETERAN STATUS.
