Job Description
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Autism Specialist to support students across K-12 in a dynamic school setting located in Westland, MI. This full-time, contract position spans the entire school year, offering a chance to make a meaningful impact on students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other special education needs
- Collaborating with educators, behavior specialists, and support staff to address behavioral challenges and promote positive outcomes
- Utilizing evidence-based strategies to support academic, social, and emotional development
- Providing direct instruction to four elementary-level students with ASD and addressing specialized teaching needs
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting interventions as necessary to foster growth and achievement
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Certification or licensure in Special Education with expertise in autism and behavior management
- Proven skills in developing and delivering specialized instruction for students with ASD across K-12
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with parents, teachers, and support personnel
- Experience managing behavioral challenges using positive behavior support strategies
