Description The Alexa Communications team is aspiring to make it effortless for Alexa to connect and coordinate with the world by anticipating, personalizing, and acting on every communication. Our team is hiring a talented and experienced Sr. Applied Scientist to help build LLM-powered, next-generation communication features that enable customers to connect with each other (e.g., calling, drop-ins, announcements) and also communicate with Alexa to drive actions (e.g., by email, texting, mobile share). We are seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial, big thinker for a confidential new initiative within Alexa. You will be joining a team doing innovative work, making a direct impact to customers, showing measurable success, and building with the latest AGI/LLM systems. Key job responsibilities As part of a growing team, you will be: - Iterating on new features and products to help drive innovation and expansion - Work on cross-functional and cross-domain opportunities - Tackle challenging projects aimed to accelerate experimentations in Alexa - Build out operating mechanisms and technology to enable novel customer experiences. - Be instrumental in setting the team culture, quality bar, engineering best practices, and norms - Mentor and grow the team around you - Contribute and develop deep expertise in the areas of distributed systems, machine learning, conversational technologies, user interfaces (including voice and natural user interfaces), data storage and data pipelines Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience - PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience - Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language - Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning Preferred Qualifications - Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc. - Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc. Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $150,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market.
