Sr. Estimator, Commercial Flooring

Pro Floors is currently seeking the right candidate for a position of Sr. Estimator, commercial flooring. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the fastest growing commercial flooring contractor in the Atlanta market. This position will report to our North Atlanta office daily. POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the VP Pre-construction, Sr. Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate flooring bids and for processing awarded contracts. Proficiency in reading and understanding all construction documents is required. Knowledge of floor covering products such as Carpet, Hardwood, Vinyl, Ceramic Tile/Stone and knowledge of means and methods in commercial flooring environment is preferred. Working knowledge MS Excel and Outlook is required. Proficiency in use of an estimating software is preferred but not required; training will be provided to the right candidate. Attention to detail, accuracy and pride in both yourself and your team are essential to this position. The incumbent must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Downloads construction documents from General Contractor web sites and collects any relevant data for the completeness of the project
• Organizes work to be estimated to ensure projects meet deadlines
• Updates estimating project files as new information becomes available
• Prepares and sets up Measure files as per SOP and/or directives
• Collects and compiles all project data, cost data and other estimating tasks throughout the estimating cycle of a project
• On limited basis, performs digitized take off using company provided software (RFMS Measure)
• Engineers flooring assemblies for various scopes, locations and project types and complies complete bid estimates per plans, specifications, established industry guidelines and the department’s SOP
• Manages workload to ensure bids are submitted on time
• Updates take offs and estimate sheets in timely manner as new information becomes available
• Monitors and summarizes all notifications from GC relating to changes/updates on on-going basis, as related to flooring scope of work
• Compiles submittals as needed, focus to remain on shop drawings and, occasionally, setting materials
• Monitors contract deadlines to ensure timelines are kept and all relevant information has been met.
• On limited basis, collects product pricing and product data prior to bid submittal and/or at any time requested
• Regularly follows up with clients on all submitted bid pricing
• Monitors tasks, reminders, deadlines, and follow-ups as required
• Assists with projects and/or task assigned to the department as issued and delegated by VP of Pre-construction
• Processing - full spectrum
• Review contracts for scope of work requirements/obligations
• Participates in regularly scheduled training sessions as needed
• On-going Training of staff as needed (informal and possibly formal)
• Assist with training new hires; helps with day-to-day work flow; resolves issues (relating to estimating SOP)
• On regular basis keep track of bidding platforms such as building connected, pro core, etc.
• Helps with management of the department within assigned responsibility matrix

Construction Specific Requirements:

• Become a recognized flooring expert
• Become an expert in interpretation of the construction documents and estimating quantities and costs accordingly
