Job Summary: Our client is seeking experienced and dedicated Tractor Trailer Mechanic to join their maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty tractor trailers, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet. This role is crucial in minimizing downtime and ensuring that all vehicles are in optimal working condition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance on tractor trailers, including oil changes, brake adjustments, tire rotations, and other preventive maintenance tasks.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in tractor trailers.
• Inspect, repair, and maintain trailer systems, including brakes, air systems, lighting, and suspension.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical issues.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
• Perform welding and fabrication as needed for repairs and modifications.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts inventory, and maintenance logs.
• Collaborate with other team members to schedule and prioritize repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
• Keep the work area clean and organized, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
• Provide on-road assistance for breakdowns and emergency repairs as required.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in diesel technology or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in a heavy-duty or tractor-trailer environment.
• Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, air brakes, suspension systems, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and tools.
• Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and on-call shifts, as needed.
