American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring high-acuity OB experience, night shifts, and strong fetal monitoring skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n
  • Work in the Birth Center within a hospital setting
  • 34 L&D beds: 15 labor rooms, 12 antepartum, 4 OB ED, 3 OR
  • Patient population includes high-acuity OB, preterm labor, C-sections, hypertensive patients, and multiple births
  • Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 active labor, 1:2 non-active laboring, and 1:2-3 antepartum depending on acuity
  • Up to 300 deliveries per month
  • Shifts are 12 hours nights, with weekend rotation every other weekend, subject to variation based on need
  • Floating may occur to antepartum and postpartum within scope and experience
  • Uses Epic EMR (experience required), Alaris CareFusion IV pumps, Pyxis, Centricity/Qx fetal monitors, and Panda Warmers
  • No mandatory call requirements
  • Responsibilities include managing labor and delivery, triaging OB patients, assisting with C-sections, epidurals, inductions, and post-partum recovery
  • Support staff includes CNA, scrub techs, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, resource RN (as available), RT, laborist, and access to anesthesia and residents/fellows
  • Orientation includes hospital introduction and specific unit training, with schedule adjusted for the first three weeks
  • Holiday coverage is required in a fair and equitable manner
  • Facility provides scrubs, which must not be worn outside of the facility
  • Free badge access parking is available in designated areas
  • First-time travelers may be considered upon review
  • RTO (time off) requests must be submitted prior to contract approval

  • Active RN license required
  • Current BLS, NRP, and Intermediate FHM (AWHONN) certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years L&D RN experience with previous travel experience (5+ years preferred)
  • High-acuity OB experience required, including triage, labor management, and delivery of high-risk patients
  • Ability to circulate in the OR and perform cervical checks
  • Experience with reading and interpreting fetal monitoring strips
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Completion of cardiac rhythm interpretation exam online prior to arrival
