This position is the Airport Fire Marshall (Airport Division Fire Chief, Fire Prevention). This office is the sole procurement unit for the Maryland Aviation Administration, consisting of 25 employees, supporting the Administration’s capital program and operating budget. An Airport Division Fire Chief manages fire prevention work at the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport Fire and Rescue Department (BWI FRD). The role includes developing, coordinating, scheduling, and reviewing fire prevention and inspection programs, supervising subordinate personnel such as Airport Fire Captains, Lieutenants, and Paramedic Lieutenants. Responsible for Fire Prevention and Inspection programs, ensuring they meet policy and procedures; developing fire protection and detection programs. Managing and enforcing State fire prevention codes, ensuring adherence and compliance. Supervising Fire Inspectors, Engineers, and support staff to ensure activities comply with codes, rules, and regulations. This position is an emergency essential position. Employees must be available during weather, operational, or disaster emergencies, and work in a 24-hour facility, on any shift as required. This position is located at BWI Marshall Airport in Anne Arundel County, MD. Qualifications Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Four years as a fire officer, in the rank of Lieutenant or above, at BWI FRD or comparable department. Note: A Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering can substitute for two years of experience. Licenses & Certifications Valid Maryland motor vehicle operator's license. NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Level II NFPA 1041 Emergency Service Instructor Level I NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector Level II NFPA 472 Haz-Mat Incident Commander NFPA 1521 Incident Safety Officer Additional requirements include obtaining NFPA 1003 Airport Firefighter certification within six months, and Maryland EMT-B certification within one year. Additional Information Annual medical and fitness evaluations. Training for vehicle operation on airport runways/taxiways. Maintaining Airport Security ID badge and U.S. Customs clearance.
