Job Description

An elementary school in Springfield, OH, is seeking a dedicated Special Education and ESL Teacher for a full academic year contract. This role focuses on supporting English learners through specialized instruction and collaboration with colleagues to foster an inclusive and equitable learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field
  • Valid Ohio Department of Education (ODE) teaching license with an ESL Endorsement
  • Strong understanding of second language acquisition and ESL instructional methodologies
  • Experience differentiating instruction for diverse English learner proficiency levels
  • Excellent communication skills for working closely with students, families, and school staff
  • Commitment to promoting equity and inclusion within the education system

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement ESL instruction aligned with Ohios English Language Proficiency Standards
  • Deliver push-in, pull-out, and co-teaching support to English learners across various content areas
  • Develop individualized language plans tailored to students proficiency levels
  • Monitor student progress using assessments like the Ohio English Language Proficiency Assessment (OELPA)
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate lessons and support content comprehension
  • Ensure compliance with ODE ESL program requirements, including thorough documentation and parent communication
  • Advocate for culturally responsive teaching and the academic and social needs of English learners
