General Position Description

Housing Search and Support and Housing Sustaining Activities

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead HCEB's efforts to provide housing outreach and support for homeless adults who are eligible for Contra Costa County’s HUD NED Mainstream Voucher program
  • Maintain a waitlist of eligible households for a minimum of 18 initial mainstream vouchers
  • Collaborate with the Housing Authority to identify property owners and landlords interested in participating in the program
  • Collaborate with RCEB-vendored ILS and SLS providers to establish a network of for profit and non-profit landlords who have successfully worked with households with developmental disabilities
  • Maintain in-house database of clients and landlords, tracking documents, and other outcome-based activities
  • Provide housing search support once clients receive vouchers
  • Assist clients with housing applications and Housing Authority process
  • Provide tenant and service provider with a copy of lease, tenants rights laws, rights to reasonable accommodation, and other information helpful in maintaining housing
  • Establish positive working relationships with landlords, tenants, service providers and family support
  • Initiate warm handoff and Coordination with ILS/SLS provider

Background and Educational Requirements

AA degree required, BA/BS preferred

  • History of progressively responsible related work experience, preferably in a non-profit Organization, minimum of 2 years
  • Experience supporting homeless adults with disabilities, minimum of 2 years
  • Experience working as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, with ability to work autonomously
  • Strong record-keeping skills
  • Able to pass a fingerprint background check
  • Excellent PC skills, including word-processing and spreadsheets in a Windows-type environment
