Human Resources Assistant

We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented Human Resources (HR) Assistant to join our team in South Portland, Maine. This is a contract to permanent position offering the opportunity to grow within the organization after the initial training period. In this position, you will provide essential support to the HR department, focusing on administrative tasks and collaborating with various teams on projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the compensation and benefits manager with daily operations and administrative tasks.
  • Handle HR-related paperwork, ensuring accurate documentation for onboarding, recruitment, and payroll processes.
  • Support employee onboarding by preparing materials and coordinating with new team members.
  • Conduct background checks and maintain compliance with HR policies.
  • Manage HRIS systems to ensure data integrity and effective tracking of employee records.
  • Provide assistance in employee relations matters by addressing inquiries and guiding staff as needed.
  • Participate in year-end HR projects and preparation for upcoming organizational initiatives.
  • Collaborate with different teams to ensure a seamless workflow across departments.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality while managing sensitive employee information.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced office environment and contribute to multiple ongoing projects.

Requirements:

  • Experience in Human Resources administration or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and ability to manage employee records effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to handle onboarding, payroll, and other HR processes accurately.
  • Knowledge of conducting background checks and maintaining compliance standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to support employee relations and team collaboration.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and a dynamic work environment.
