The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the management of daily laboratory operations, environment, and work processes according to standard operating procedures. Coordinates and directs the activities of all personnel within assigned section. Develops work plan and priorities employing established policies and procedures to ensure timely and accurate completion of assignments. Ensures department procedures and processes meet all regulatory compliance. May function as a highly skilled technologist in the department as appropriate to meet patient care needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
\n\n
\n\t - Coordinates and oversees the daily operations and work assignments to ensure timely and accurate result reporting.
\n\t - Is accessible to testing personnel at all times testing is performed to provide on-site, telephone, or electronic support.
\n\t - Provides day-to day supervision of personnel performing moderate and high complexity testing.
\n\t - Monitors test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performances are maintained.
\n\t - Resolving technical problems and ensuring remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory established performance specifications.
\n\t - Ensuring patient test results are not reported until corrective action has been taken and test system is functioning properly.
\n\t - Evaluates, establishes and maintains required procedures and quality control systems.
\n\t - Reviews quality improvement data, statistics and performance indicators, identifying recommendations and participates in the implementation of problem resolutions.
\n\t - Implements new test systems and/or processes and ensures all regulatory requirements are met.
\n\t - Actively participates in the development and adherence of departmental budget
\n\t - Identifies opportunities for cost savings of reagent and supplies
\n\t - Serves as a resource for continuing education of staff, students and hospital personnel.
\n\t - Providing orientation and training to all testing personnel
\n\t - Annually evaluating and documenting the performance of all testing personnel (competency)
\n\t - Assures timely submission of regulatory reporting, proficiency testing and other required submissions
\n\t - Performs other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
\n\n
EXPERIENCE
\n\n
\n\t - Four or more years of relevant work experience in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Lab Technologist or Clinical Lab Scientist.
\n\t - Experience with QC / QA / Regulatory requirements.
\n\t - Experience working the bench in the respective supervisory department with ability to use sound judgement when making decisions.
\n\t - One (1) or more years of supervisory experience within a laboratory setting, preferred.

EDUCATION
\n\n
\n\t - Bachelors degree in Sciences, Medical Technology or related degree required.
\n
\n\n
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
\n\n
\n\t - A valid New York State Education Department License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist
