The Powder Coating team is responsible for preparing the product surface for final coating and painting using a variety of tools before the product moves to final assembly. This includes applying coating, working with machines, and ensuring high quality of metal door and frame systems surfaces. The goal of the Powder Coat Processor is to assure complete and proper surface preparation is performed so coating coverage, thickness, and cure is completed to the manufacturing standards and specifications. Work Hours: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 6 am - 2:30 pm. Occasional overtime opportunities at 4 am. Responsibilities include ensuring proper operation, maintenance and record keeping of the 5-stage pre-finishing system; ensuring project pre-finishing and finishing documentation is properly recorded and maintained; identifying characteristics of surfaces to be coated and ensuring proper preparation for application of coating; understanding general pre-prep operation, including viewing product for defects before entering the coating booth; applying coatings in accordance with manufacturer Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and ensuring proper cure time and temperature are achieved; performing quality certification testing and recording results; preparing parts for rework to correct coating defect; ensuring proper operation and maintenance of the cure ovens; setting rigging and scaffolding and operating lifts and small cranes as needed; operating a variety of power and hand tools and equipment; wearing appropriate personal protective equipment; inspecting and maintaining equipment for compliance with safety requirements; developing and documenting Standard Operating Procedures; complying with all appropriate safety and work safety regulations; maintaining a clean work area and disposing of hazardous waste periodically. Entry level position; prior manufacturing, powder coating, or pre-finishing experience preferred but not required. Requires attention to detail, ability to work in hot, humid environment, sound judgment, ability to work in a team environment, and ability to perform under stress. Working conditions include heavy work, exposure to noise, fumes, hazardous materials, humid conditions, and moving mechanical parts. Personal protective equipment will be provided. Typically requires 40+ hours per week.
