Registered Nurse-Day Surgery, Surgical Department at North Alabama Medical Center summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Day Surgery, Surgical Department is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care, utilizing specialized interventions to ensure patient well-being. This full-time position requires a current RN license, experience in patient care, and certifications in Basic Life Support, ACLS, and PALS. Nurses will perform assessments, manage treatments, and educate patients while contributing to the mission of making communities healthier.

How you’ll contribute   

You’ll make an impact by utilizing your specialized plan-of-care intervention and serving as a patient-care innovator. You will shape exceptional patient journeys every day and leverage your skills and our cutting-edge technology to directly impact patient wellbeing.

Qualifications and requirements
Applicants should have a current state RN license. Additional requirements include:

  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire. 
  • ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
  • Requires one to three years of work experience. Greater than 2 years preferred.

What you will do

  • Performs duties as assigned and requested.
  • Completes a focused patient assessment with reassessments
  • Based on patients' condition, procedures, medications given and treatments.
  • Adequately assesses and reassesses pain. Utilizes appropriate pain
    management techniques.
  • Performs patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and specific needs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on the age of the patient and the patient’s clinical condition. Follows the 6 rights of medication administration to reduce the potential for medication errors.
  • Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring
    technical and manual skills.
  • Performs treatments and provides services to the level of licensure.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes
  • Patient safety and reduces the likelihood of errors.
  • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
  • Educates patient and family on disease process.
