Job Description

SUMMARY

Working within company strategies and policy frameworks, the SHE Officer will design, propose and implement safety, health, environmental guidelines and procedures within broad principles and policies set by the organization to meet SHE requirements supporting short and long-term business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conducts SHE related Training
• Maintains SHE related spread sheets and databases
• Provides technical SHE guidance and coaching to all levels of personnel with the organization
• Prepares reports as directed by the SHE Manager. Specific experience in preparing Tier II, TRI, NPDES, RCRA Biennial, and Air Emissions reports.
• Maintains knowledge of laws and regulations affecting the company’s operations and assures compliance with those regulations
• Participates in plant/field audits and interfaces with internal and external auditors and regulatory and government agency personnel
• Collaborates with employees and supervisors to identify and correct potential SHE Hazards
• Participates in developing corrective measures and driving actions to completion
• Investigates accidents or problem areas and recommends future preventive measures
• Enforces safe standard work practices with personnel and monitors conformance through safety and housekeeping inspections
• Managing the disposal and reporting of Hazardous and Non-Hazardous waste
• Ability to understand and prioritize initiatives
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, verbally and in writing
• Ability to gain trust and buy-in; ability to influence
• Manage Storm Water Program at an Industrial site
• Perform other job duties as needed
• Enter and Investigate NearMiss, Accident and Spill reports
• Knowledge and understanding of Process Safety Systems (PSM)
• Experience in managing and maintaining ISO 14001 and 45001 Management Systems

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in a Science related field or equivalent job experience is preferred
• Experience in Managing an Industrial Storm Water Program
• Excellent knowledge and use of Microsoft Office products is required
• Ability to respond during crisis and high pressure situations and rapidly adjust to changing priorities as needed
• Intermediate knowledge of US Safety and Environmental regulatory/compliance
• Ability to understand and prioritize initiatives
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, verbally and in writing
• Ability to gain trust and buy-in; ability to influence
• Ability to work extended hours
