Summary/Objective

The 2nd Shift Supervisor position is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of warehouse personnel functions in a consistent and professional manner. This correlates to all warehouse operations, including the identification and communication of department goals and teamwork, in addition to various professional development aspects such as maintaining and promoting a positive workplace environment, employee morale, staff training and development, and promoting/enforcing safety rules and regulations to maintain a positive workplace safety culture.

Essential Functions

Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow.

Issue written and oral instructions.

Assign duties and examine work for precision, neatness and conformity to policies and procedures.

Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers.

Maintain harmony among workers and resolve grievances, consistently promoting professional conduct.

Confer with Warehouse management team and other management staff outside of the warehouse to ensure coordination of other plant functions such as production, inventory management, quality assurance, maintenance, safety, & human resources.

Identify employee skills and development by coaching and counseling employees on a regular basis.

Conduct performance reviews and provide continual feedback on both positive & negative performance.

Partner with the Warehouse Management team & Human Resources Department to ensure proper documentation and resolution of matters regarding employee performance review and disciplinary action.

Responsible for enforcing company policies and procedures, including the promotion and enforcement of safety rules and regulations, maintaining a consistent and positive workplace safety culture.

The employee is responsible for assisting the Human Resources Department with and being actively engaged in personnel matters such as recruiting/hiring, employee reviews, employee counseling, corrective actions, and recordkeeping. The employee actively participates and promotes the company's training and professional development efforts.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the 2nd Shift Supervisor is frequently exposed to a refrigerated warehouse environment, which includes the operation of powered industrial equipment. The Dock Supervisor also works in an office environment at times, which is climate controlled.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the Dock Supervisor is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, and operate equipment as needed.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, including Saturday overtime as needed, with working hours established by the Warehouse Management team.
